Whilst pondering over as to what to order I went to the bar for refreshments and was greeted with chirpiness/ laughter from the staff ! After ordering the meals we were pleasantly surprised as to the efficiency of delivery in some places if there's more than the regular 3 then someone will be waiting for their food longer! Not in this case. Well done to all the staff for letting my family and myself fell very welcomed. I had the steak and Stilton cheese pie and mash and being a northerner yes I have had pies but nothing like this, when in this area again I will be trying it again if just to satisfy my curiosity of was that just a one off! The rest of the family had various meals of all which nothing was left on the plate almost to the fact we were seriously thinking of licking the plates clean, but had to compose the fact we were in a public house and not at home,,Dam it , LOL
Having found this place on our travels whilst on a wet day in February we went here for a lunch time meal. On arriving in there we went to where the log burning fire is !! Wow u get the views of the valley and the warmth of the fire. Staff and bar selections fantastic and price of drinks very reasonable. The menu has enough choice for hikers to couples who want a nice meal out. We had the pie and one of the burgers, both very nice and very warm and effort put in with the presentation !! Priced very reasonable considering the portion sizes. I would definitely go back and recommend here. Keep up the good work
Really picturesque location with lovely views of the Derbyshire hills. Staff very nice and helpful. Food mediocre and overpriced, £18 for an overcooked medium sized battered fish and fried frozen chips. I tend to judge eating places by the quality of their fish and chips, this didn’t come anywhere near being somewhere I would want to come back to. Good range of beers though!
After a beautiful hike I was looking forward to some tasty scran and a pint. I was really happy to see Cruzcampo as an option, however from 9 Cruzcampo's my table ordered, only 2 of them came in Cruzcampo glasses, the other 7 were in Fosters glasses. Weirdly one friend ordered a cider which came in a Cruzcampo glass.. I'm really not one to complain and it was very busy so whatever. We ordered food as soon as we arrived, 4 meals. The two burgers came out and were eaten, then after they'd finished the trio of sausages came out and my friend ate that on his own. Unfortunately my food never came, I'd waited over an hour, trying to be patient as it was extremely busy, but eventually went in and enquired and sure enough it had been missed. The bar staff were great, they mentioned something about the ticket printer being a bit dodgy. I ended up getting a full refund for my food, but ofcourse disappointed as I was starving and couldn't wait for them to make it again before my train was coming. I was told it'd be 45 mins until the chef would see the ticket at least. I'll put it down to being a really busy day, and would probably go back if I was in the area. The outside space is really great on a sunny day.
Came here as part of a scenic (read poured down) road journey around the Peak District. Ramblers was warm, staff great and food hearty, warm (soup lovely) and plentiful. Baguettes huge! local ales good too. very decent stop off point and ample car parking.
