Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen - Hickory

I make a 35-minute trip each way to indulge in my favorite spicy fried chicken at this restaurant.

I have only had Popeyes once since moving away from Mississippi, and that spicy chicken sandwich in Winston Salem a few years ago was just okay. But THIS spicy chicken sandwich was amazing! The chicken was cooked perfectly, fresh, with a crispy and evenly spiced crust all around. The mayo and pickle ratio was almost perfect, with both in nearly every bite. The bun was exactly as it should be on a spicy crispy chicken sandwich - barely noticeable but there to hold it all together. This is seriously the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. It is far superior to Chick-fil-A because there is no weird aftertaste or sogginess; with Popeyes, you taste the chicken with complementary flavors, and there is a generous portion of chicken on that breast. YUMMY!

I have dined at Popeye's restaurants in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, and several times here in Hickory. Since the Hickory locations opened, I had hoped they would improve over time. Unfortunately, they have not. During my most recent visit, I walked in and felt like I had entered a rundown, neglected establishment. The dining area was dirty and had a foul odor, as if it had not been cleaned in days. I probably should have left at that point, but I decided to give them another chance. However, from the staff to the person who handed me my food, it was clear that basic communication and manners were lacking. The food was mediocre, but I couldn't wait to leave. I look forward to the day when this location closes and is replaced by a restaurant that can provide a much better dining experience.

Spent $24.00 ordering on a chicken and it doesn't taste good. the teig on the chicken wasn't delicious at all. I don't know if they changed the recipe. the cookies were not warm. I really want my money back. will not come back.

The lobby needs to be opened because trying to do door dash having to go through the drive-through they need to have it where door dash and others that deliver can come into the lobby as long as the line was tonight because if we do not pick up their order on time we get a penalized for it.
