Our meals were served piping hot and freshly prepared—something that's quite rare these days. The food was so delectable that even after we were full, we couldn’t help but keep eating because everything was just that good. If you're searching for a local place with freshly made, delicious food, this is the place to go. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience and treating us to such delicious meals!
This charming eatery, aptly named for its cozy corner location, is a wonderful family-run establishment. I must highlight how friendly and accommodating the waitstaff are. The food is exceptionally fresh, and it's reassuring to see the employees enjoying the same dishes they serve. They offer a daily fresh soup that is a must-try. Portion sizes are generous; depending on your appetite, two people could easily share one plate. You won't be disappointed with the freshness of the food. Make sure to try their homemade drink made from purple corn—it's delicious without being overly sweet. I didn't give a five-star rating simply because I didn't have the ceviche, but I noticed it was frequently ordered, which suggests it’s both good and safe to eat. They strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols, with limited seating, hand sanitizing stations, and a requirement to wear masks when not eating or heading to the restroom. You can call ahead to place a takeout order, or if you prefer dining in, you'll need to wait outside until your table is ready.
For dessert, we shared Flan de Lucuma. It was our first time trying it, and it was incredible! Topped with whipped cream, the flavor reminded me of pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and I must say, it has become my new favorite dessert. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience!
The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking, although it can get a bit tricky if you're driving a larger vehicle like a minivan. I’ve heard it gets quite crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, but we went at 6:30 PM, which was the perfect time. They offer wine and beer, but I'm not sure about other types of alcohol. I'm definitely planning to return; it’s worth the trip!
On the positive side, the food is well-presented and captures the essence of traditional Peruvian cuisine. However, the downside is the slow service—especially on Sundays, when the owner should consider hiring more waitstaff. Additionally, the “Bistec a lo pobre” lacked delicacy; perhaps the cut of meat used wasn’t the best choice for this classic dish.
