Have been to the Alpine several times since the 1970's and have never had a bad experience here. Made to feel welcome on arrival, coats hung up and shown to table. Had plenty of time to consider menu and drinks and then ordered. My only complaint was that the food was served too quickly giving it the feel of a fast food establishment. Not enough time between courses. Still I am glad that I went and sad that it is closing.
A wait for one a halve hour before the main course to arrive is to long. The food is ok but nothing special. I got one bottle of wine on the house for waiting that long. That was good a nice gesture. But sorry I can't recommend the restaurant and I would not visit the restaurant any more. My home cooking is far better. The staff is very nice I feel sorry for them because they can't help the slow kitchen. A table for 10 people is something the kitchen can'tdeal with.
Great meal, Good atmosphere, good service, just a shame its closing its doors forever!
I haven't got the time energy or inclination to go through one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever endured Unless you like being either ignored or otherwise having the managers being rude from start to dismal end and have several hours to wait for your order once they eventually take it, I would advise everyone to give the Alpine a very wide berth
The Michelin App found The Alpine, and the reviews sounded good so we went to see for ourselves, fed up with Christmas cooking at home. We weren't disappointed, except that the portions were extremely generous, so much so that there really wasn't room for dessert! A piece of pork belly for one could have fed two or even three! Very good cooking, and nice service in a very pleasant dining room. Well attended, too, for a Tuesday after Christmas. This is obviously a place to go!
