The best thing about this restaurant was the sommelier. The food was good but not amazing.. fresh and light, but nothing to rave home about. Food is 3 star, but the wine pairing was 5 star.
The evening commenced with a lovely drink in their lobby by the fire. We were seated and the exemplary service continued throughout the evening. The food was glorious and the wine fabulous. The Argus is certainly recommended for any fine dining occasion.
I was looking forward to coming here after hearing the review. The venue is beautiful, staff were brilliant. My (only but quite important) let down was when I asked if it was okay to take the chorizo out of my meal as I don't eat meat. I was told, yes they will remove the chorizo and lo and behold, my first mouthful had chorizo in it. Big let down considering there was only one other table apart from me.
We ventured here because we had heard a lot of hype. We waited over an hour for a table, which we expected because it was a Saturday night, and the bar was really good and the service was great there. Unfortunately we were told we would only wait for 30 minutes which I guess dampened our spirits once it exceeded that time frame. We got taken into a very dark room, and it was so loud we could hardly hear anyone speak at our table. The food was ok, maybe a bit too hyped. Overall, we expected more.
