There is no menu choice but each course was top quality and flavoursome from the Okra starter entree to the delicious strawberry dessert. The restaurant sources its produce locally and the wine list was full of local wines (and beers). It is not cheap at $80 per head for food but it is perfect for fine dining and or a special occasion
As their website states.... (we)..... are now serving a daily changing ‘prix fixe’ four course menu, of 8 to 10 items that allows us to pursue our passion for seasonality and sustainability. Well they sure do that! It 's different, no doubt about it, and that 's what 's so great about it. Our service was attentive, a little slow at the start as clearly staff numbers can be hard to find, but the food a delight to the senses, and we had a wonderful evening. We had noted a couple of small allergies in our booking notes that we we were hesitant to even share at that point in time, yet after we took our seats the wait staff checked in to confirm the allergies advised and sure enough.... dish 1 and there was an ingredient on our allergy list which the kitchen had catered for by presenting a completely different dish without the ingredient for the affected party and the regular dish for the non affected. Throughout the evening it was thoroughly enjoyable to be treated to different dishes of such diversity and variety to while away the evening. Not every dish appealed, but that 's not the point here, the quality is outstanding and we were indulged with some items we would never have ordered from an a la carte menu that we thoroughly enjoyed. Book ahead as this place can be popular and it 's a lovely evening stroll through the park to the restaurant and back to accommodation that 's over the river (we had a torch albeit there are some pathway lamps). If you like trying something new and a change from the norm, this might appeal. Bon appetit '
We read some great reviews about this place. Unfortunately our experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a restaurant anywhere. Some of the worst service I’ve come across. Food was ok but there are MUCH better restaurants in the area. 1. When we arrived we expressed surprise at the set four course menu. I had misunderstood the website (my fault) but the response could only be described as rude and dismissive. The person at the next table had also made the same mistake so acting like we were stupid for thinking there was an A la carte menu was extremely rude 2. When we asked what was on the menu we were told it’s too hard to explain and they don’t tell anyone. The next table asked the same thing and was given a menu. The same menu they stapled to our receipt on the way out. 3. We were served a drink at the start of the meal, we were then never offered a second, we were never given fresh water. So we sat without drinks all meal. 4. It took 40 minutes to get one course, and over 15 minutes to clear the table once we had finished. Again the table next to us was on course two before we had our plates even cleared They arrived 15 minutes after us. 5. It then took another 20 minutes to get the next course. 6. We were not checked on, not once were we asked if we enjoyed the meal or needed anything 7. By this stage we’d had enough and complained. The response instead of apologising and doing better was then to rush us through every course. We still did not get offered a drink or refresh of the water 8. We were rushed through the last three courses in 20 minutes and still nothing to drink. 9. There was no apology, there was no attempt to make up for the poor service. I had a $7 soft drink at the start of the meal, they didn’t even offer to take that off. I did not ask or expect any discount or freebie but considering how terrible the service was you would think they would either apologise or try to make up for our bad experience. They did not. Instead they were even worse. 10. As we left they did not even acknowledge me. 11. The food was too salty, the fish over cooked, the beetroot was undercooked and the dessert was a really odd flavour which neither of us finished. Worth noting is that when we spoke to them we were polite in our complaint, no demanding, no raised voices. We just quietly expressed our disappointment at the service after reading such good reviews and we were very clear it was not good enough. We said please and thank you every course. But we were clearly not happy with the service. And they were actually worse after we spoke to them. If that’s possible. Awful. I would not go back and would actively encourage people to go elsewhere if asked. My partner who has never walked out of a restaurant and is endlessly polite nearly walked out before the second course. My only regret is that we didn’t.
