We arrived at Daylesford and while a few coffee places in the Main Street had closed or were closing Bocconcini was open & welcomed. The cafe is well designed and wonderfully warm on a cold winters day. We had coffee & cake which was just perfect. Staff were attentive & friendly. Thanks!!
With so many places open for breakfast in Daylesford the choices are endless but the breakfast menu at Bocconcini stood out the most to me as there were a few different things I could not chose between. I decided on the smashed avocado and hubby had the Spanish omelette. We also had a side order of bacon. The bacon coming from a local supplier called Istra. Best bacon we have ever tasted.Everything was absolutely delicious. My eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise amazing. The coffee ( Lavazza ) superb. Service wonderful. We also grabbed a yo-yo to take away. We would definitely not visit Daylesford again without a trip to Bocconcini.
Their coffee was really good. The cakes not so much: one was too wet, one too dry, passionfruit cheesecake lacked personality. And who serves sour cream with dessert? Grabbed some serviettes to clean our spot; was scolded by owner. Look am sure someone would've come to clean up your table he says. I know you're really busy, just trying to help I answered. It was a long week-end. He then says that was a lot of paper. Dude the paper's recyclable. The Chux wipe in your hand...NOT! Did not appreciate his tone.
We ate here on a Saturday night specifically because they had a jazz quartet playing that night in the bar area. Dinner was good but not excellent. My husband had the beef which was so fun of sinew it was almost impossible to eat, however the flavours were fantastic. We also saw other tables who ordered the beef struggling with the toughness of the meat. My dish was much better. The service was excellent, the wait staff friendly and welcoming. The two owners were great fun, and very friendly, making sure everyone felt welcomed when they walked in.The jazz quartet was really great fun. Many locals had gathered in the bar area to listen to the music and we met and chatted to a few. Overall the night was great, it is just a pu=ity the meat was a tough.
