I had a vegetarian burrito and it was very good (it has some cheese and saw, but so if they are vegan it better to ask). the part of the place, as mentioned by others, is that it is somewhat more expensive and they add a 10% service fee to the bill. other than that, it was a nice place to dinner in, very close to kenting beach.
It's actually not that easy to find vegan food in Kenting, so when I encountered Smokey Joe's with a separate vegetarian menu where most items can be made vegan, I was really happy. There are two locations of Smokey Joe's, and only the one at Dawan is vegan-friendly. I ordered Mixed Mushroom Saute, Veggie Lover's Tortilla Pizza (no cheese), Spinach Spaghetti with Garlic, Mixed Mushrooms Olive Oil, Braised Tofu with Vegetables, and Mushroom Fried Rice. The Tortilla Chips is also vegan, even though it's not listed on the vegetarian menu. Remember to confirm with the staff what you don't eat, such as cheese, butter, sour cream, etc. When I went there the staff got it right away and it was a very pleasant dining experience. It's a bit more expensive than the street food you'd find just on the main street of Kenting (with very limited vegan options such as stinky tofu, sweet potato balls, deep-fried mushrooms, and fruits), but on a hot summer day I'd say it's totally worth it.
The waitress confirmed that they know the meaning of “vegan” very well, so we don’t have to worry about it. Eating was good, just a little expensive.
The place was pretty expensive, especially compared to all of the other food in Kenting. I had the chips and added guacamole, and the mushroom rice. All were very tasty and I had leftovers. Some items are not on the vegetarian menu because they contain garlic and/or onion (i.e. the guacamole, so just be mindful of that as Taiwanese vegetarians don't eat garlic, shallots, onions, and other strong flavours this confused many people).
