Those pizza slices with the best pepperoni available, dubbed “little peps” by those in the know, make for a feast! However, I’m so bummed you stopped the $10 slice-and-a-wine deal (substituting for beer)! Why not charge a buck more and bring it back? ? Pizza Rock Downtown: Highly recommend the Michigan Avenue pizza, which is cut in 14 slices and thin crust=less carbs. San Francisco’s own pizzaiolo, Tony Gemmiano, is a recognized pizza champion and it shows. Also Nicole was a knowledgeable and great waitress!
The zucchini fries were surprisingly good—crunchy on the outside and soft and salty on the inside. I got the Hot Honey Pizza with added dollops of ricotta cheese on half the pizza on a recommendation. I expected a bit of spiciness from the honey but didn’t detect any, so I’m not sure if they meant they just warm the honey before drizzling it on. The only description is “House Made Local Hot Honey.” The overall flavor was just okay—definitely was better and more balanced with the added ricotta, but still just okay. The pizza was also super flimsy. There was no “bite” to it, just soggy dough. I wouldn’t get that again. But I’d come back and try other things. The waitress was great and the location and vibe is nice. It can get loud in there though (it’s in the casino), so you might have to talk loudly if you’re with a group.
We went at happy hour. Food was great, sever great. Deceiving menu and the GM had attitude. We ordered Pabst Blue Ribbon. Served in paper bag which was fine to make it fun but…. The menu was $5 for a 32oz. Can. We drank and paid bill then discovered after taking bag off they gave us 24 oz. No one told us. They now do 24oz at $4. It’s a little petty but they should have menu updated or verbalized it. We talked with GM and she said corporate has to change it it’s not me. We said she should change it or verbally tell guests. she again blamed corporate. I asked for a free beer to make up for the deception and she granted it but with a bad attitude. I was in restaurant business for 50 years and you have to change menus asap and or verbalize any discretionary problems. Her attitude to this shows her lack of management skills. Everyone at our table left feeling she was not handling it well. Hospitality comes from the heart.
Tony knows Pizza! Choice of bases and flavours. The calamari was excellent, and the meatballs exquisite. Eat in or take out you will love it!
Do not recommend! Pizza tasted good, but crust was hard as a rock. Pizza looked nothing like it did in the picture.
