Was not open during business hours!!!. I will not be checking for Iris Eats anymore!!!!!!
I have been to Irie's eat a couple of times in the past. I have had their oxtail, curry chicken, and curry goat several times. I have to say my curry goat was salty, but it didn't diminish how juicy the meal was. The cabbage plus the rice and the curry goat paried made each bite less salty. The food was still very flavorful, well season and the goat was succulent. Their plantain was tasty, although i think the biggest scam is them charging me almost 6 dollars for 6 plantains. My best friend believes as a carribbean, she doesn't feel right eating jamaican food without plantains.
The restaurant did not have one of the meals I ordered, and I wasn't asked if I wanted to replace it with another meal. This is unacceptable.
I have been a lover of Jamaican cuisine for many years. During one of my trips to Jamaica I was able to participate in a cookoff competition with some famous chefs and sometimes I cook Jamaican staples at home. I was excited to see that there was a couple of Jamaican restaurants in the area when I moved to StL County, so I decided to try Irie Eats. I must say that I was disappointed with the food that I ordered. The jerk chicken was the biggest disappointment...first of all I must say that the chicken wings were so teeny tiny... I've never seen wings that small in my 61 years. Secondly, the sauce on the chicken still did not mask the taste that the chicken was not fresh. Nor was the meat in the meat pies. The rice pea's were so dried out and tastes as if it was prepared days ago. The corn fritters didn't have a lick of corn in them and the rum cake was horrible. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture. Definitely would not eat there again.
