Were already a few times in the ox restaurant. as some of the TripAdvisor editors have already mentioned, the setup tends to be somewhat loud, but the setup is nice. table reservation for lunch is recommended, probably the same evening. the quality of eating is good. in the regular menus with small salad or suppe included. some vegetarian foods are available (e.g. flame cake) and salads, but obviously not intended to attract vegis. we had several different meals and everything was quite well cooked and prepared. price level is medium to low and absolutely ok. the service staff is nice and friendly. overall we are fans of cooking and food quality. room for improvements is the way and wise how the personal incoming customer manages. sometimes they seem to be ignored or just come in to sit on reserved tables. further waiting times for meals can be quite long without further information by the staff.
We would have given 3.5 points after possibility. it was good at price level and quality. service was tried but not to fail depending on the pre-set support. overall we were satisfied. unfortunately the order was not according to request. Finally, the ordered beed was made from roast beef of quite good quality. salate where acceptable. overall: the location is nice, sitting outside with great weather made it more comfortable. we enjoyed it altogether, but were not enthusiastic about the meal times. ox could be a good opportunity when traveling through the region and looking for a place with good value for money.
The quality of the food is very good and it is served typical German eating in very large portions. beer and wee have a good choice and the staff is efficient and polite. If I went back, I would order less food! I will definitely choose this hotel and restaurant again
Next to the krone, the ox hotel is a “must-eat” in heitersheim. the price is great, the drinks are plentiful and the selection of soups, salads and steaks is pleasant. the menu contains some traditional German dishes, but nothing that is inaccessible to Westerners (it is not full of blood sausage). the suppers are small and are served in a cup, so they know they have a place for a main dish after they have warmed up with something hearty. I had an excellent salad with garnel and smoked ham (the smoked ham was more like prosciutto) with olives, pine nuts and rucola. I liked it so well that I came back later in the week to have it again. of course not
