Good location at the market place in the center of HH. Many guest. Quick and friendly service. NB... the establishment don't accept credit cards. Strange nowadays. Tax? There is a minibank close by, so there isn't a problem
After a long morning of hanging out at the beach, then afternoon shopping; we stopped in at the Altdeutsche for an Alsterwasser and a baked Camembert. The Bierstube is on the market in a beautiful old building. We sat outside and watched people while enjoying...our Beer. For dessert I ordered a pint of Guinness. Normally I'd order a German beer but I was feeling adventurous. I only say this because they say Guinness doesn't travel well and doesn't taste that good outside of Ireland. I know it isn't that good in the U.S., but here at the Altdeutsche it was surprisingly yummy. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. There's nothing like sitting enjoying a beer as the church bells ring. I will, no doubt, go back to enjoy another beer and conversation
We loved the owner. She's typical north German, rough and tough with a heart of gold. The food was okay for a pub, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Too bad they didn't do a New Years party but we enjoyed it for the few hours we could stay there.
