Zum Achter Heidelberg

This is a wonderfully situated restaurant, with a balcony view across the river to the town. Initially not as one would expect sitting above a boat house which you pass through to enter. The menu has a good variety and some interesting combinations. Once delivered...to the table the food was pleasant and filling. The kitchen was very slow and the service not much quicker, but this is not a complaint or issue if you expect it i.e. if you are in a hurry or of an impatient nature it is not for you, but if you wish to enjoy the ambience, the very enjoyable view and the good food, the slowness is completely not an issue to enjoy a leisurely meal.

I just had the most amazing meal here my first night in Heidelberg. Thank you for preserving this hidden gem. We saw it walking along the river so we walked around to the front to find it. I'm glad we did. We were able to...sit outside on deck overlooking the river and we had a really great experience. It's a rowing club by day too! The service and food at this place made it a memorable meal. The Schnitzel was one of the best I've ever had. It was the perfect thickness of meat to breading ratio and was seasoned perfectly. This comes with the perfect side salad in my opinion. Fresh picked leafy greens, light green goddess type of dressing, endive fronds or leaves, cucumbers, and sliced tomatoes. Oh and let's not forget it also comes with steak fries My favorite dish was the Swabian ravioli with Reisling sauce. I will definitely be craving that dish again.

Had a lovely meal in the September sunshine, it's a wonderful place to watch people enjoying the river. If you are a rower this appears to be part of the local rowing club so should be of interest. The food was great, with a good...selection of local dishes, glorious Staff were great, food was great, price was great. The beer was better!

Great location, on the Neckar, on warm nights it's a must to eat on the terrace, to make the venue perfect the street needs to be closed off to cars. The food is excellent reasonably priced with engaging staff. Have eaten here a number of...times , can be relied on for value all round

Be sure not to miss out on dinner at Zum Achter. It's one of the only places with a terrace that overlooks the river. The food is tasty and wholesome and Nathalie's English is amazing. Great service and wonderful dinner with a lovely atmosphere to...boot, what more was needed on a sunny evening in Heidelberg?
