Carol's Pies is a modest little shop located on the lively Bell Street. Nestled between a car dealership and a laundromat, it’s easy to overlook. Carol and her husband Keith run the place themselves, focusing on high-quality food. They offer a selection of freshly baked goods and convenient pre-made meals. The shop is tidy and well-organized, with display cases right by the entrance showcasing an array of treats—muffins, salads, mac and cheese, biscuits, pasta bakes, cakes, and more. However, the highlight for me is undoubtedly the pies. They are the most delicious pies I’ve ever tasted, and I might even be underselling them; they are truly the best pies in Melbourne! The pastry is perfectly flaky and golden, and the fillings are simply amazing. My personal favorite is the chunky beef, but there are plenty of other options like curried beef mince, Thai chicken, and lamb. I might be missing a few, but you get the idea. This is the kind of place you’d go out of your way to visit for some comforting homemade food. Carol and Keith always make you feel right at home.
Carol's Pies is a surprisingly small shop located on Bell Street. Carol and her partner Keith run this place themselves, with a strong emphasis on high-quality food. They offer freshly baked goods and ready-made meals. The shop itself is tidy and clean, with display cases right as you walk in. Depending on what they have available, you can find everything from muffins and salads to mac and cheese, biscuits, pasta bakes, cakes, and more. However, for me, the highlight here is definitely Carol’s cakes. I have never tasted a cake quite like hers. These are truly the best cakes in Melbourne! The pastry is perfectly fluffy and golden, and the fillings are simply incredible. My favorite is the savory beef, but there are also many other options like cured beef with mint, Thai hug, and lamb. I could go on, but you get the idea. This is one of those places you must visit for a taste of comforting, home-cooked food. Carol and Keith always make you feel welcome.
Carol's Pies is an incredible little shop located on Bell Street. Tucked away between a car dealership and a limousine service, you might easily overlook it...
Carol offers regular-sized pies for around $5 and family-sized ones for about $20. Occasionally, she has some frozen pies available, so you can stock up for those inevitable pie cravings—if you can resist eating them right away! She also makes huge sausage rolls that are absolutely delicious, far from the questionable quality you might find at gas stations. These are truly top-notch! There are other dishes on the menu that I haven't tried yet, but knowing Carol's cooking, I can only imagine they're just as tasty—perhaps even better than homemade! I highly recommend stopping by, but please save a pie or two for me!
