River Deck - Hayward

I'm really glad we visited last weekend. The salmon was incredible, and the NY Strip was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Our waitress, Mackenzie, was excellent. The beer was ice cold, and there were no bugs around!

The server was really impressive, and there were no issues with the service—everything was quick and friendly. However, given the prices, I expected more. I ordered the crab cake, and while the sauces were enjoyable, the crab cake itself lacked flavor. My husband had the dip sandwich, which he requested to be cooked medium, but it arrived well done. He found it rather plain, although he did enjoy the white truffle parmesan fries. We ended up spending over $70 on a beer, two drinks, a sandwich, and an appetizer (the crab cakes). Next time, I think I’ll stick with Flat Creek. As a former restaurant cook and manager, I tend to be a bit more particular when it comes to food!

We had a wonderful evening at the River Deck in Lumberjack Village, Hayward. I highly recommend the thick bacon appetizer. I opted for the sirloin steak salad, while my wife enjoyed the salmon salad. The food, service, and overall experience were all excellent.

Wonderful lake side restaurant. Huge outdoor patio with bar. Delicious upscale food. Kids menu. We used apps for entrees which helped increase the vegetarian options. Quick service. 5 !

The food was good, but like other reviews, the food and the amount of food just didn't add up. One crab cake for an appetizer for $23?! Very expensive for what you get. Also, we weren't able to sit outside due to rain earlier in the day. Inside was not very charming compared to the outside views.
