Applebee's Grill - Hayward

I asked our waiter, M, if they could prioritize my kids' meals, as I knew they typically wait to serve everything at once. As I suspected, my steak arrived cold and dry, and even the mashed potatoes were cold. My daughter’s hamburger was also cold. M apologized and explained that despite the lack of patrons, the kitchen was focusing on takeout orders, which contributed to the long wait. I requested to send my steak back, and it took another 10 minutes for them to just throw the same piece back on the grill to warm it up. When M brought it back, it still tasted like cardboard, so I asked him to cancel it. He felt bad for me, especially since I’m pregnant and hadn’t eaten properly, so he offered to rush me a new piece. I decided to have it as takeout since I had lost my appetite and couldn’t wait another 20-30 minutes. To my surprise, he even voided the charge for my steak, which we hadn’t asked for or expected.

I’m frustrated with the way our appetizers were served separately from our meals, only for the food to arrive piled on top of the appetizers anyway. Even after mentioning it to the staff, nothing changed. The supervisor or manager came over to check if we needed anything, and my son asked for more dressing for his salad. Unfortunately, she never returned. I won’t be going back to this restaurant; the service is just unacceptable.

My food was just ok this time. I will update my review if on future visit it improves. Yes their prices have gone up and they don't seem to have many lunch specials. I have been having problems with their app lately. The car side to go would be great ifyou didn't have to walk in and get your food because staff was too busy talking to see a car was there.

The seating time was quick, even though the restaurant was fully booked. The waiter was attentive and friendly, and our order arrived just as we requested. The food and drinks were delicious.

My boyfriend and I did the 2 for $25 and had a lovely sit down lunch. The service was fast and the food was good!! I will be returning! Thank you so much for a lovely lunch.
