Als Chickenette - Hays

One of our favorite stops from I70. A short jaunt from the Interstate, but worth the side trip. Another simple delicious meal at Al's. The third time I checked them, as we cross the country. Every time I'm glad I stopped. This is a taste of local taste. Every meal starts with warm butter rolls. Salad is crisp, and in chilled dishes served chicken fried steak, so easily it floats over the plate. Juicy, tender, delicious roasted chicken. Make sure to ask about the daily cake choice, and do not miss the wonderful ice cream. Excellent service.

The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, especially the cake and ice cream which were yummy! I tried the chicken steak and the coffins, and I highly recommend both. I'm usually not a fan of crust, but the crust on the Dutch apple cake was incredibly tasty. And of course, the cake itself was fantastic too!

This place was too good for words. We were in Westkansas about 9 months and I started thinking we would never find great food until tonite!!! Food, service, sweet tea!! Amazing!!!!

Some of the best fried chicken I've had! Soup and mashed potatoes were great too! And the staff was excellent!

Like everyone else, I found this stop on the way to somewhere else. The service was fantastic, the food was amazing- especially the pie- save room for pie and ice cream! You won’t regret it. Even my picky 10 year old said best ever and ate all his chicken and 4 rolls!
