Philp's Bakery - Hayle

Absolutely superb pasty. Had a steak and cheese hot from the oven. Lovely flavour, nice strong cheese and perfect steak all in a really nice flaky pastry. The store opens at 7.30am and at around 8am there was already a queue. I'd hoped to pop in and out and get to the beach but ended up queueing for quite a while... mainly because everyone in front of me seemed to be ordering more than 10 pasties they are so good! A small car park on site. A good covid safe queueing system and screens around the tills makes it all a very safe pasty purchase. A fantastic pasty.

Simply the best pasties and cakes in Cornwall all baked on site too. If you're down near Hayle you need to go here and have one. Don't go for the largest ones unless you want to share!

I really enjoyed the pasties I ordered—both the vegan and veggie options (the veggie one had a bit of cheese). There was a long line when we visited, which just goes to show how good they are. The portions were larger than we expected, so the next day I had some leftovers that were just as delicious as the first time. There are so many tempting options here that I definitely plan to return!

I have to say, this is the best Cornish steak pasty I've ever had. I got one of the large ones, and it was huge! It stayed warm even after a 6- or 7-mile drive, and the short wait of 2 or 3 minutes in line was worth it. I apologize for not taking a photo; I couldn't resist diving in as soon as I got it!

We had two pasties and a wild boar dish for our daughter, and the food was truly delightful. The meat was juicy with just the right amount of seasoning, and there were no gristle or fatty pieces. Our daughter’s sausage roll was beautifully baked and not greasy at all. We did have to wait about half an hour before we could eat, but that gave us the chance to visit Hayle Beach and enjoy our meal with a lovely view.
