Avondale Golf Club - Hayden

I've played most of the golf courses in the area, but today was my first visit to Avondale, and it was easily the worst experience I've ever had at a golf course. I felt belittled by the staff at the pro shop when I asked for clarification on the dress code. Moreover, I was confronted by the course marshal for no reason at all. Someone almost hit me with a golf ball off the first tee before I even took my second stroke, and they didn't bother to shout "fore" or anything. In response, I helped their drive travel an additional 80 yards into the water. Given these experiences, I likely won't return. The only friendly and respectful staff I encountered were the cart girl (I think her name was Charity) and a few random members.

Playing here costs $120, and honestly, it's just not worth it. You might as well be at a private course. That's just how things are at Hayden Lake, Idaho nowadays.

Avoid this place at all costs! You'll have the worst golfing experience imaginable. I went for a company golf trip and felt rushed the entire time, even though we were keeping a steady pace. The Marshal insisted we skip a hole and told us multiple times to pick up our balls and move on to the next hole. The Marshal was quite unfriendly in how they approached us. If you're not playing at par or better, I'd suggest staying away because you clearly won't feel welcome.

Greens are beat up. Many pitch marks in the greens. Bunkers are rocky and have too much sand. Bunkers are not edged well. They are very overgrown. Hard pan lies in the fairways. It seems like their irrigation system may have failed in some areas, leaving them soaked or without any water. My round also took 5 hours to complete. Overall, terrible, overpriced golf course that is horribly overpriced.

Had fun on the driving range. Ate some delicious fish tacos.
