La Moneda Cubana - Havana

What a great experience! Do not miss this restaurant while you are in Havana! You won't regret it! The restaurant is located in a building dating back to 1800. It is equipped with beautiful paintings, tables for fine food, spectacular food, delicious drinks, friendly and attentive waiting staff. You accept US currency, but if you use US currency, you must add the exchange rate to your sum. We had a 4-course menu it included 1/2 bottle of wine and 1 mixed drink for $35 us per person! Spectacular!

People complain about this place being expensive. Sure, it is more expensive than other local places. EXCEPT, being from the US, It cost us 100 CUC for dinner for three. For dinner we had: three lobster seafood dinners that were loaded down with shrimp and perfectly cooked rice and veggies. Two of us drank beer and the third person drank mojitos. Bread was placed on the table. All three of us has the veggie soup. Then one of us had dessert and another coffee. So, given everything we had, doesn't seem that expensive.... We spoke english and had no problems communicating with the staff. They were friendly and attentive. Just smile and try and they put forth effort too. We ate on the roof in the middle of the afternoon in July. While it was HOT, the roof was shaded and had a good breeze. Plus the view was great! Also, this is a privately owned restaurant. Eat here and support the people, not the gov own places.

Spent a very nice evening in this restaurant after a recommendation we got from a local barber. Beautiful place with live performing singer. The place is considered fancy in Havana’s standards, and the staff here knows English well. At 9PM, everything stops and all are looking towards Havana’s fortress to watch and hear the daily cannon shooting ritual.

The best restaurant in old Havana. Enjoy the set menu and enjoy channel view on roof and Cannon Fire at 9PM.

Very nice little Paladar with good Cuban food for a reasonable price and a very nice owner. The mojitos served were the best we had in Cuba.
