This restaurant is a cross between Taco Bell and chipotle. If you like processed cheese and Tex-mex, there are options. If you are more on the chipotle side and want veggies, wheat tortillas and lots of choices; you also will like it. I thought the food and selection were fairly expansive. Delicious food but a bit pricy.
Poor quality, morbidly overpriced, and abysmally similar to Taco Bell. This restaurant got one thing right, it is illegal. It should be illegal to pawn off a burrito that is so filled with rice that is an obvious way to cheat the consumer out of other fillings. The house salsa is bottled Louisiana hot sauce and is undetectable on the burrito. Because of this fundamental failure, the burrito is retains a dry and desolate taste. It ranks far behind the worst middle school cafeteria burrito ever served. The price is over $14 for the large burrito. That must be the most expensive rice on the planet. What 's worse than that? Oh yeah, you have to pay up charges on top of this for a drink and chips. The staff was friendly but this burrito should be illegal (literally).
This place just opened up near the USM campus so I thought I would check it out. I will start by summarizing my opinion. The food is decent for what it is (basically a Chipole, Qdoba stlye restaurant where you order your Mexican food item and then get them to add items from their selection in metal tubs as they push it down the counter Subway sandwich style). In my opinion you should go down the street to Qdoba (less then a 1.2 mile away). You will get the same quality but more food for a lower price. The servers at Izzo 's seem overly concerned with giving you exact portion sizes they hand out. I ordered a super (their medium) size burrito. The lady in front of me ordered a misdemeanor (the small). However as we proceeded through the line the server scooped our rice and scraped off or shook the serving spoon of each of our selected ingredients so that we each got the same amount of stuff. Basically, I paid a dollar extra in order to have more tortilla shell. It really bothered me that they seemed to level out the ingredients as if they were going to go broke if they gave us a few extra grains of rice. When they finished rolling up my burrito I took it back down to compare it to the representative example size they had back toward the begining of the line and it was just over half the size they claimed it should be. I don 't eat out more than a couple times a month so they probably won 't care, but I 'll be heading to Qdoba whenever I feel like this type of meal again. I should have weighed it, but my guess is the portion I typically get at Qdoba (just the regular size burrito) is 150% of the super burrito at Izzo 's and almost a dollar cheaper. I will say the selection seemed *slightly* different and perhaps better depending on what you want at Izzo 's (I liked that they had more wrap flavors and whole avocado to name a few), but nothing worth the extra money, and I also like the salsa selection better at Qdoba so that was a wash for me.
Not the best in town. Chips were stale. Ground meat was very salty. Steak was way too tough. Place had a grimy feel as everything felt sticky and empty tables still had little bits of food on them like no one wiped them off. I wanted to try this place so bad because of friends reviews. Now I wish I hadn't. Next time I'll keep driving up to the competitors burrito place not far from this location.
