Serendipity Cafe - Hastings

The service was excellent, and the coffee and hot drinks were delicious. The world-famous custard slice in HB was a generous portion that two people shared and definitely met its reputation. The parking was convenient, and the restaurant was easily accessible.

I visited the restaurant for its renowned custard square, but I also tried the lamb burger and both dishes were definitely worth it.

I have visited this restaurant a couple of times now, and have never been disappointed. There is plenty of indoor seating, as well as a decent amount of outdoor seating. The menu consists of a standard all-day breakfast and lunch options, all of which are cooked beautifully. They also offer a good kids menu, but we usually just get our toddlers chips and have them eat off our plate since their preferences change daily. Ordering is done at the counter, as is common in cafes, but the table service is efficient and friendly. Despite the large crowd on our last visit, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food arrived. The selection of sweet treats is excellent for those with a sweet tooth, and the custard squares are a must-try – they are the best in NZ! A visit to this restaurant is a must when in the Hawke's Bay region.

This is the only place you'll want to go back to again and again.

This was my first time at this restaurant and it was fantastic. The staff was friendly and there were plenty of gluten-free options. I will definitely be going back again.
