Regular chips are now over £3.00 which is not now good value for money. In the past regular chips had been enough to feed a family of 3, but now looks like there is barely enough to feed 1 person.
The fish was passable, not sure it was cod but the chips were disgusting. Grey and black and tasted awful even with loads of salt and vinegar. Went in the bin. Not cheap either and what a waste of money. So disappointed as was looking forward to a nice takeaway. Never again!! They were the worst old rotten potato chips I’ve ever had and the fish was so poor considering the high price. Would never recommend this place again.
I have always found it to be one of the best around and therefore I have been going there for years(40+ , the staff are so friendly and helpful its a pleasure to get my only weekly fish and chips from them.
I've just had the best fish and chips I've ever had in any chippy in London...or anywhere come to think of it. I've previously written a glowing review for sea rock on other sites and at the time I honestly thought they couldn't get better. I couldn't be more wrong if I tried. I ordered a specific cut of cod and a large portion of chips for myself and a portion of scampi for a family member. The cod was cooked to perfection, a generous size despite me asking for and expecting a regular portion. The batter was just the right side of crispy without being hard and sharp in the mouth; the cod itself broke up into large juicy flakes that had that lovely creamy texture as it melted on the tongue. The chips were perfect for my taste, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside, and cut to just the right size. Again cooked perfectly and dished out in very generous portions. The scampi was excellent and cooked expertly giving it a pleasing crunch with a burst of flavour as they melted in the mouth. The fryers really have got their art down cold. It doesn't matter if you ask for something straight off the menu or for that menu item to be cut or prepared in a specific way , the staff at sea rock will prepare it exactly as you want it, even if the place is packed (and they regularly are) and are extremely busy, they will still accommodate your order exactly as requested. I can highly recommend this establishment and give it a full rating because this chippy has the best food, the best service, the most generous portions, and highly valued to me; is the most consistent. You get all of the above every single time you visit. I've never been let down by them. Never had a bad meal. By far the best chippy I've ever found.
I been going here for years. Always good fish and decent chips. But as of last night 28/5/2019. I dont think I will, I got 3 battered sausages and 2 large chips for 3 adults and 2 kids to share. Got them home and opened up. Sausages did look really ropey, bit burnt , not the usual colour yellow batter ud expect but though, carry on as I know this place. Tasted not as good as usual but ate any way. Missus stopped 1/4 was in and said it tastes funny. And gave up. The chips were soggy and very brown and bruised not the usual there I must say. Over all a really really disappointing visit here after all the good ones. But this on has now put the missus and mother in law off and wont be going back as there were a bit poorly last night and can only blame the food we had. My stomach is made of steal tho.
