Keep for a good meal whether you stay at Hotel Madison or not! I recommend the shrimps and the grits, but be sure to check the specialties for unique and well made entrees.
Enjoyed chatting with the people at the bar more often than not, did not eat but heard everyone there speak highly of it. Drinks are hit and miss sadly BUT it's quiet, relaxing, and you're room just right upstairs.
The food was good, but the service could use some fine tuning. When we arrived we were quoted 15-20 minute wait. We waited 25 minutes then went back to the hostess stand. The hostess said they had to seat members of a party so it would likely be another 20-30 minutes. She then offered for us to sit in a bar area table (high top . At this point we said sure and were seated promptly, but not given menus. I thought it was just a bad-timing fluke, but a little while later the same exact thing happened to a family with small kids. Everything seating wise moved really slow. Our average dinner (drinks, appetizer, meal, and dessert took 1 hour and 45 minutes from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. During that time we saw only 2 tables get up and leave the restaurant. The wait time on our food did not seem excessive. It seemed like the servers were not actively turning tables and the hostess did not know how to properly quote wait times. Our server, also the bartender, seemed knowledgeable and friendly. We had the lavender martini, brussel sprouts, French dip sandwich, chicken piccata, and cheesecake with peach compote. The food exceeded my expectations (brussel sprouts and cheesecake were A+ , but my chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back. I did not request a new dish as I was already feeling full. The manager removed the piccata from our check and gave us a free dessert to go. If you park in the deck, the restaurant will validate your parking. Overall impressions—good food, especially for a hotel restaurant, but the staff could use a little extra training to make this place a gem.
This is a nice place to relax in after a long day at work. The place itself is tastefully decorated and the service was nice. Everything I ordered seems to be served on wood strange but nice. The deviled eggs were tasty and tangy and a good choice to start off with, next up, the baby back ribs small portions but well made. As for sides the mashed potatoes were, well, lumpy (as all good mash potatoes should be! and the crispy Brussel Sprouts were like eating healthy ultra thin chips..As the kids say they were most delicious well done! My only real complaint is that if you are going to be a high scale restaurant and serve ribs have moist towels to clean the hands of your patrons , Napkins just won 't cut it. Would I go there again? Yup, but only for special occasions.
My food, an Autumn gnocchi fusion was really good and our two appetizers (nachos and the brussel sprouts) were excellent. My brother's chicken was overdone and I think others at our table of 7 weren't universally ecstatic but overall the food was excellent, IMHO.
