Happy Hops - Happy Valley

I've been coming here for Friday happy hour for a while now, and I have to give a shoutout to Jen, the bartender—she's fantastic! She knows me and remembers my favorite drinks. Unfortunately, the bar has changed owners, and the new management seems more focused on the new video poker machines than on keeping the good beer stocked. My rating is all about Jen and the Caldera porter. I really hope the new owners get their act together, or I might have to find a new place.

I placed a call-in order, just as I have many times before, and was given a pick-up time. Since it takes me about 10 minutes to get there from home, I arrived right on time. However, I ended up driving around the parking lot for another 10 minutes because all the designated to-go spots were full, with no one in the cars. It seemed like people were ignoring the parking signs. I texted to let them know I had arrived, but no one came out. I continued to circle the lot until a to-go spot finally opened up. When I called the restaurant, the girl who answered was very rude and hung up on me as soon as I mentioned I was there. Soon after, she brought out my food, which looked like it had been sitting under the front counter for a while. She handed it through my window without saying a word. Once I got home, I was disappointed to find that my food was cold. The chicken was drenched in sauce, which I had to rinse off under water; they had always provided the sauce on the side in the past. Overall, I'm very disappointed and am now hesitant to return to this restaurant anytime soon.

If you enjoy the taste of stale beer from old kegs and drinking from glasses that have a bleachy odor, then this is the place for you. It’s a craft beer taproom, but don’t expect any expertise in craft beer here. The atmosphere is pleasant, but that’s about all it has going for it.

They don't require customers to wear masks. I brought it up during three different visits, but nothing changed. There are people coming and going all the time. It's a shame because it's a nice place, but I won't be returning.
