Duck Island Ice Cream East - Hamilton

We stopped by after dinner to enjoy some ice cream. Unsure of which flavors to try, we decided to share a flight featuring eight scoops selected by the servers. We were fortunate to get a table as we indulged in our treat. The sticky rice flavor was particularly unique, with a delightful salty coconut taste. The toasted marshmallow flavor was also quite pleasant. Even though it was late and the staff were cleaning up, we didn't feel rushed at all. It's a really lovely spot to enjoy some sweet and delicious desserts.

Everything about this ice cream parlor is fantastic. From the wide selection of unique and interesting flavors to the interior decor and the attentive service, it's a delightful experience. The staff encourages you to sample multiple flavors before making a decision and provides full attention while you order. Today, I tried their bourbon/brown butter/pecan and the matcha/strawberry milk crumb. Both flavors were wonderfully balanced—not overly sweet, refreshing, and absolutely leave you craving more. I also added frosted peanuts as a topping for just 50 cents. The portion was more generous than I expected, adding a delightful crunch and an extra layer of flavor. The waffle cone was exceptionally crunchy and fresh.

Rating: 4.5. The line stretched out the door and around the corner, but everyone was happily willing to wait for this ice cream. It truly lived up to the hype. The ice cream was wonderfully creamy and smooth without feeling heavy. The Smoky Apple Pie flavor tasted genuinely like a real apple pie, unlike other versions I've tried elsewhere, which often had an artificial sweetness. This is by far the best. The combination of white chocolate, hazelnut, and tonka bean was fantastic, with an interesting texture from the crushed tonka beans. I loved it!

Best icecream ever! This place really changed things up for us in Hamilton! I love walking in and smelling the fresh icecream! Blueberry cheescake is a must!

100% one of the best ice cream parlours in New Zealand! Their flavours often change based on the season and fresh produce. There are many different DF options, which aren’t just gelato like most places do. Can’t recommend visiting here enough!
