I was very excited to drive to Hamilton from Guelph to get this specific cake made.Unfortunately when my partners family and I tried the cake it was tasting quite dry and was not too flavourful. I was disappointed. It’s was a hit or miss but I’m sure the bakery has more to offer. The cake had pretty representation.Customer service needs improvement. The bakery staff were not pleasant to speak with.
Unfortunately, like with most places, quality and quantity have declined post-covid.Portion sizes have been reduced, and prices have still increased. It costs $4.50 for a tiny 3x2 inch square of tiramisu with very little cream and limited flavour. It's $4 for each cannoli, no deal on multiples. $4 for a 3x1 inch sliver of cheesecake that they order in.THE LOBSTER TAILS ARE ALWAYS BURNT!!9 out the past 10 times I've been there, they're burnt. Almost completely black on the bottoms and edges. And they still sell them. That's the embarrassing part. No quality control at all.The value simply isn't there. Hopefully they can improve quality standards to where they once were.
Delicious baked goods, meats, deli meats and prepared and frozen foods. The parking is usually difficult but recently it’s been better so that is awesome. You have to get there early if you want any of the really good fresh popular stuff. But they still had plenty to choose from by the time I got there… Unfortunately ;
Lots of Italian styled goods and goodies. Not just baked goods, they sell pasta and sauces, olives and olive oils, deli meats and cheeses, fresh and frozen prepared meals and salads as well. Hubby found his Nona's cookies and was very happy indeed! We also picked up a cherry pie, and it was better than a big box store's but not better than my Grandma's. Many locals talk as if this place is the best bakery in the world and maybe my expectations were super high due to all the praise so I will say it's very good, but not the best I've ever had. If you had an Italian Grandmother and are missing her cooking/baking, do check it out. Maybe you'll find that flavour you're missing here.
I have a problem with resisting the urge to “tinker” when I buy prepared food. This lasagna comes from a local gem here on the mountain in Hamilton, Ontario called Sweet Paradise. I grew up in this area and went to high school right up the road, so Sweet Paradise was always on the lunch list for a meat lovers panzerotti! As I got older, and my palette refined, I started to really appreciate what this little local giant had to offer.They have a hot foods counter where they make some seriously good eats you can grab for an after work lazy night. I know it’s good food, but I always need to take it up a notch, because I’m a neurotic control freak when it comes to food. There, I said it! ;)A place like Sweet Paradise is a very convenient spot for a guy like me. You can get everything you need to punch up a dish right on site! The extra sauce is also one of their in-house creations. It’s their locally renowned spicy sugo all'arrabbiata sauce, and if you’re in the neighbourhood, don’t skip a visit there just for a jar of the sauce alone. It’s totally worth it!The bakery and deli aren’t lacking either. Some of the finest desserts in the city come out of Sweet Paradise, so they definitely live up to their name. I absolutely love this place, and as a food guy, consider myself incredibly lucky to have them so close! Check them out at 630 Stone Church Road West (just east of Upper Paradise) in Hamilton, Ontario!
