Extreme Sandwich Plus - Hamilton

I like to support small business so when I saw the sign for a place called Extreme Sandwich, I had to try it.

I am a firm believer in supporting tiny little hole in the wall businesses, and I am constantly going to this place to grab a sandwich.

Like the other posters, I too like to support small business. When I saw the sign I had to try it. I was hoping for a hot smoked meat but alas it was a cold-cut sandwich so I opted for the smoked turkey. The sandwich is huge but to be honest it was only average. The thing I liked least about the place are the people running it. The lady used gloves but the guy didnt and both looked like they had just rolled out of bed. Friendly enough, but between her hacking and coughing and his less than hygienic behaviour/appearance, it left a bad impression on me. Honestly, I can get a better sandwich at Roma Bakery on Barton. I wont be returning.

We heard about this form our renters who live in Stoney Creek. They just opened after moving from Barton street. It is nice to support local, small businesses when we can. This place is simple, small and clean !!! The size of the sandwich is...large and you can get many types of meat at and ounce sandwiches. Also many types of buns. I got the oz smoked Turkey and it was huge...LOL. Ate half and had lunch the next day. The girls there are terrific. They don't scrimp on fixings, many many options as lettuce, tomato, onions, etc. My wife ordered the roast beef sandwich. It too was big. took them home and as mentioned was good both days. Fair vale for what you get. We have be back twice.

The sign is what drew us in for lunch. We like to support local, small businesses when we can. This place is simple, small and reminds you of an old fashioned general store from years ago. Nothing fancy, but clean. They only have two small...tables for lunch. A sign on the wall says they cater. When I see places like this I assume the sandwiches are very good. The size of the sandwich is good. The buns are big and you get variety of types to choose from. You also get to choose many types of meat at and ounce sandwiches. I asked for the oz Turkey and almost had to tell the guy to stop putting Turkey slices on. They don't scrimp on fixings either, like lettuce, tomato and onions or other toppings. The guy making the sandwiches is also very friendly. My wife ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich. It too is big with two types of cheeses. It is one of three types of hot sandwiches on the menu board. The only problem is that the sandwich was not hot The chicken is brought in from the back where I assume it was warmed up, but when all the fixings were put on, it was not heated up. There were two micro waves there, but no convection oven like Subway, where they at least melt the cheese on the sandwich. The soup is apparently made by another lady and brought into the store. Today you had one choice which was minestrone. Not my favourite soup, but I ordered some anyway. It was actually quite good. It was a smooth soup, not a lot of salt as other restaurants seem to have. Would have been nice if there was at least two choices, but I give this a thumbs up. We do have some constructive criticism for this place. The guy making sandwiches made sure he cleaned his hands before making each one. Would have preferred he also wore those thin disposable plastic gloves like they use at Subway. It gives you a bit of a creepy feeling when a stranger touches each part with his bare hands. They did have a clean bill of health posted by an inspector, so I don't have issues with this place that way. The sandwiches were good, the soup very good. You can get the same thing from a sub shop. They could improve with the heating of sandwiches and hands thing when making them. for two sandwiches, one soup and one large chocolate milk. All in all, it's ok.
