The Terrace Savory Thai Cuisine

This is the best Thai food I've had in New Haven. The Pad Thai is a must-try, although I found the Tom Kha soup to be a bit watered down and somewhat disappointing. Nonetheless, it was definitely worth the effort to visit. The owner is incredibly friendly and very helpful when it comes to selecting items from the menu. The food is served promptly, and everything is well-seasoned. The only downside was that they were out of several menu items, including mango sticky rice, which was quite disappointing. As the restaurant filled up, the service began to slow down, likely because it seems to be run by just a few people. Overall, it's a wonderful place to eat.

Amazing! The food is fabulous, and the service is outstanding. Just be ready for a truly spicy meal. If you're concerned about spice levels, I recommend ordering a 'mild' dish. I usually go for 'spicy' at Thai restaurants, but my friend convinced me to try 'medium' at The Terrace, and I'm so glad I did. It had the perfect level of spice and was incredibly flavorful. I heard they get their Thai chili peppers delivered directly from their family's farm in Thailand via DHL!

I found the portion sizes to be quite small and the prices to be extremely high for the flavors offered. You could find tastier food at many other Thai restaurants in the Hamden/New Haven area. I ordered a Thai tea, but it tasted off, so I kindly asked the waiter (who I believe was also the host and the cook's son) about it, and he acknowledged that it had been made incorrectly and went back to address the issue.

I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. It serves the absolute worst Thai food I've ever experienced. Until now, I had never encountered "bad" Thai food, but this was simply dreadful. My drunken noodles were completely dry and lacked any sauce, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. I honestly managed just four bites before I had to throw the rest away; it was that awful. If you appreciate Thai food, please avoid this place—I assure you, you won't regret it. I usually refrain from writing reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others against wasting their hard-earned money here.

This is the only authentic Thai restaurant in this area and one of the few in the United States. I have only had a handful of Thai dishes that compare to those here, and they were either from upscale restaurants in Thailand or outstanding street food in Bangkok back in the 90s.
