Golden Chopsticks - Hamden

Just got takeout here for lunch today. Worst dumplings I have ever had (I ordered the vegetable steamed dumplings. Good dumplings have a thin wrapper; these were VERY thick and pasty, with very little of a bland filling. My Moo Shu Pork and my friends' orders were just OK, but not as bad as the dumplings.

The best steamed pork dumplings around New Haven. Also, one of the few takeout places that will make Peking duck! Otherwise, very reliable Chinese takeout. Friendly, fast takeout service. The inside looks nice too!

Well it got a C from the health department, so that wasn't super exciting going in. I didn't get food poisoning afterwards so that's a plus. There are regulars that come back to dine here, which says something I guess. The food wasn't great. It was average americanized Chinese food with a cardboard fortune cookie at the end. Don't get me wrong, I love my americanized Chinese food, but I've had better. The men's bathroom was humid, smelly and dirty. It made me wonder if maybe that's where the health department dinged them. It made me glad I couldn't see the kitchen, even though I kind of wanted to.

This is my to-go for Chinese restaurant. General Tso's Chicken is like no other. I tried General Tso in othere Chinese resto but theirs is the best.

Golden Chopstick is my go-to spot for Chinese food delivery. They are consistently quick and very friendly, and their prices are quite reasonable, often at or below the average for Chinese takeout. One of my favorite menu items is the steamed BBQ pork buns—simply delicious. Their soups always arrive hot, and the wonton egg drop soup is generously filled with wontons. I’m not sure how they manage it, but their fried wontons strike the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, which I absolutely love. I haven't found another restaurant that can replicate this. Their egg rolls are just as impressive, and I always make sure to order extra. The combo plates are always generous in portion, and for larger orders, they sometimes include complimentary drinks. I have yet to receive an incorrect order; everything is always accurate, quick, friendly, and fairly priced.
