Ended up staying for some time while getting to taste the buffet. Great offer for euro but a bit dissapointed...that it did not have sausages as I would expect.
Looking for a good burger nearby, we touched down at the Big Easy. It has a nice Dixieland atmosphere and interior. Sundays is live music. the burger was mighty and good roasted, we liked the potato wedges, but the salad was tiny. I got my...extra Jalapeno on the burger without a problem. The price for a beer and the meal was with around very good. The service was nice and helpful, but a bit chaotic. The black butler boy figures are a matter of taste.
We went for a late dinner at this place which was recommended on other sites. It is a restaurant/bar/cafe with dark furniture, more bar like, but likeable. It has outdoor seating. Our server was pleasant and helpful, but it took a while to get the...food. Everything is freshly prepared, so be aware that you will have to wait a while during normal meal times. The food was excellent with more than sufficient portions for a very reasonable price. We are going to try the brunch on Sunday with live music or just come back another day. Take the subway to Barmbek, just about m from the subway station.
Being an American expat and having eaten in New Orleans, have a very good idea of its iconic foods. That being established, I have lived in Germany for over years and have come to the conclusion that the many places that say American is...in name only and much stuff hanging on walls. NOT the food. I looked through the menu and nothing caught my eye as being New Orleans. BUT was there just before the Sunday Brunch started, my partner and I simply wanted a breakfast. Choices not unusual. What was (is) are the prices. Seems this restaurant is behind the times in raising prices. Was truly surprised. While our breakfasts were not especially outstanding, they were cheap and okay. We sat across from the brunch and WILL go back for it. Whether the food is outstanding, have not a clue BUT the price is right Our waiter was busy waiting on us, as well as being involved in set up for the Brunch. But he did an okay job. For the price, WILL go back. P.S. Was amazed and found humorous that they offer a full English breakfast. (New Orleans is French, BTW
We were recommended this place, the service was friendly and efficient, however the food was of very poor quality. Therefore we would not recommend it to others as there are many other restaurants to choose from on the main street.
