The current owners took over five years ago, navigated through the challenges of Covid, and have turned it into a vibrant bar and spacious restaurant serving Cantonese cuisine. They also offer seven hotel rooms. For dinner, we decided to try the two sharing platters which were like Chinese tapas - delicious and satisfying. We enjoyed the local Pennine Bitter beer with our meal. Our family room was large, well-furnished, and soundproof. Breakfast consisted of fruit juice, a full English breakfast, and toast - nothing fancy but it hit the spot. The service was efficient and friendly. Overall, our experience was excellent. We chose to visit this time because the prices were reasonable and we were intrigued by the transition from English pub to Chinese restaurant. We will definitely be back the next time we need an overnight stay in the area.
A group of ten of us stopped for a night, Weather very warm in the evening and staff were very accommodating by allowing us to have a buffet style meal outside on the big table. Food prices good bar prices as usual. Rooms clean with everything required provided, would definitely stop here again if the area. Alice the host was very helpful.
A large menu at reasonable prices around £12 for a main dish with generous portions and the service is very friendly and professional
