The River Room Maine Local Market

This is the best restaurant on the Kennebec. The food is outstanding. The Mediterranean sandwich may be the best sandwich I’ve ever had. So deliciousq. Prepared by kind hearted staff who know and care about good food. The view of the river from the bar is the best of any restaurant on Water Street in Augusta/Hallowell/Gardiner. Bald eagle citing a from here are common. Very comfortable not at all pretentious.

If I could give 6 stars for service, I would!The farm-to-table attitude carries over in the friendly kitchen attitude; with fresh ingredients, freshly made. We had a stunning buffalo wrap and a simple caesar salad, with fresh made bread turned into fresher made croutons. We also grabbed cookies to go.On a quiet and rainy Friday, this riverside spot was a warm welcome, and one we hope to return to on our next trip to Maine. From considerate chefs to engaging owners, it’s a shining star of the delightful downtown!!
