Kittur chennama park or KC park is a garden located on Belguam Road of Dharwad This is a huge park covering around 40 acres (appx) having water pools and fountains, coconut grove, and varities of flower plants lush green lawns and a children's play area. This park has an interesting history it dates back to 1825 in the of kittur war between Rani chennama and the British East India company John Thackeray who was the political agent and collector of Dharwad was shot dead by kittur soldiers along with captian Black and other British officers The dead bodies of these officers were kept in this park at that time to offer them their last respects after conducting a funeral mass at All saints Church in vicinity of this park and later to be buried in a cemetery located near present mutton market located near Mankilla which even today you can find Thackeray's grave in a pitiable condition. However The park has a cenotaph in a memory of slain British soldiers in kittur war of 1825. The British had built a small memorable for Thackeray which later developed in to present day kittur chennama park.
