The Rington Steakhouse Oyster - Halifax

This is one of the most elegant restaurants in the city. The wine selection is excellent, the steaks are delicious, the decor is charming, and the service is attentive.

Despite the unfavorable seating, we were excited to be at Barrington Steakhouse. Our server, who was tall and slim, came off as aggressive and seemed ill-suited for the ambiance of the restaurant. Right from the start, our service was lacking; the appetizers were served out of order, which prompted us to skip ordering a red wine. As the two hours passed, we could even hear the server cursing from behind that metal shield. As for the food, the pork belly tasted more like ham, but the tartar was delicious, albeit served with stale chips. The scallops were quite good, and I enjoyed the unique oysters. We visited on a Thursday evening hoping for a memorable experience that would lead us to book a party for December. In hindsight, I can’t help but wonder if the service would have been different if we had said we were there for a big steak dinner and fine wine.

I had a wonderful experience with my fiancé at this restaurant. The atmosphere, service, and food were exceptional. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and my Bourbon-aged steak was the best steak I’ve ever had. The staff was very accommodating, especially since we celebrated our engagement well into the evening. I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion. I just wish I could remember our server's name—she was so kind and made our night truly memorable. Thank you!

Food was just ok..didn't really live up to expectations..staff were awesome however. This was a $62.

A one of a kind experience. Service is spectacular and the food is divine.
