Song's Korean restaurant - Halifax

My first visit here. I work on Quinpool and it is my first time. Nice decor. Good menu. Staff very friendly. Food looked and tasted great. Very clean cafe style restaurant.

Need to get my Korean fix while in Halifax! The atmosphere and service were nice. We ordered 3 dishes:1. Seafood pancake- suggest that you dont order this, unless you feel like a good carbo load of batter. Doesn't actually have much seafood or vege component in it and it must have cost less than $2 in ingredients2. Spicy beef soup- was okay. Usually a cheap standard dish in korean restaurant. Strong MSG flavour that should be hidden better3. Mr Song's special soup- this was good. Lots of mushrooms, veges and good flavour from using radish for the stock rather than relying on MSG. Overall, 3/5 rather than 4/5 (should get extra points given that its in Halifax) because of the failure of the pancake.

We tried out Song's a couple of weeks ago and were pleased to return on our next Quinpool Road visit. There seems to be a bit of an explosion in Korean food offerings in Halifax recently, and I believe Song's is one of the best. The bibimbap with spicy chicken was one of the best I've ever had and they have local micro-brew beer available which makes a nice pairing. Service is friendly and attentive.

Lunch was great. Service was great. The bulgogi and spicy chicken soup were just what we were looking for on a cold, damp Sunday afternoon. The steamed dumplings were also excellent. This place is definitely going to make it on to the list of "go-to" places in Halifax.

I've been to many Korean restaurants in Halifax and this one is my favourite! Love their Kimchi soup. The staff is friendly. They also gave a 10%student discount( must have a valid student ID card).
