Pete's Frootique - Halifax

Today my family and I visited Sunnyside mall and I decided to grab lunch from the lunch counter at Pete’s Frootique. The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was absolutely delicious!! I was so eager to dig in that I forgot to snap a picture before devouring it. I paired it with some Covered Bridge Sea Salt chips. I will definitely be ordering this sandwich again in the future. The service from Braeden and Emma was excellent. They made sure to clean their hands before preparing our orders and accommodated my husband's particular taste in condiments. Their attention to detail was much appreciated.

We tried the Chicken Pesto sandwich on sourdough bread and it was delicious. The chicken was very tender and the walk-up sandwich bar was enjoyable.

We often visit this restaurant when we are in Nova Scotia, but this time was the worst experience we have had in a while. The service was slow even though there were plenty of staff behind the counter and it was completely disorganized. My spouse wanted the advertised BLT sandwich but was told they had no bacon, only bacon bits. It was attached to a supermarket and not having bacon was ridiculous. It was a Friday and they were out of supplies. She ended up choosing something else and when we went to pay, we had to wait what felt like an eternity to get our sandwiches. When we sat down at our table, we realized there were no napkins. We went back to the counter to ask for some napkins, only to be told they were out. In times of COVID, being out of napkins on a Friday afternoon was unacceptable. This restaurant needs a lot of improvement, as they were out of basic supplies on a Friday afternoon and the service was mediocre at best.

I went for breakfast. Cheap food and very slow. After I paid and waited for my food, I watched many people come and order and go. I checked in with staff to ensure they hadn’t forgotten about my order and they rudely told me I never ordered. I told the man working there I had ordered with him 20 minutes ago and paid. I don’t think the rudeness was needed for someone who politely stood there waiting their time. They continued serving customer who came after me and eventually got around to my meal. No one apologized for this service. Will not go back.

Delicious soup and custom built salad, My friend enjoyed his soup and sandwich. The menu is like that of a high end deli. Buffet style service with a food court eating area. Parking is free in the mall parking lot if and when you can find a spot. An excellent casual lunch experience will return.
