Spring rolls cold in the middle, Sushi not delicious, and the curry fish balls...let's me say I would pay someone to watch them chew and swallow one lol. Last year I had a great experience but after last time I won't be back. For the quality the all you can eat is way overpriced. Just go buy 40 dollars worth of sushi somewhere else and you will be happier. All that being said they have great service beside the fact that they didn't bring one of our items and the restraunt is pretty. But if the food sucks nothing else matters.
The restaurant features an open-concept design, which unfortunately results in a very noisy atmosphere, making for an unpleasant dining experience. While this isn’t the restaurant's fault, the noisy customers certainly are. During our early Saturday dinner, we encountered multiple families with loud, screaming children, and some parents allowed their kids to stand on their seats in the booths. When it comes to authentic Japanese food, the menu is quite limited—offering sashimi, nigiri, maki, uramaki, and temaki. If you’re looking for Westernized Japanese dishes, Mizu might meet your expectations, but for authentic cuisine, I recommend trying other places like Jukai Dartmouth or Sushi Jet on Larry Uteck. As for what we ordered: the sashimi was decent, with fairly sized slices, but it took a while to arrive at our table—likely due to the high cost of sashimi for the restaurant, which may discourage them from serving it in abundance. Notably, red tuna sashimi is not available. The nigiri had too much rice and vegetables relative to fish, and the same went for the maki and uramaki; the excessive rice seemed designed to fill customers up. One unique item at Mizu that I hadn’t encountered elsewhere was the beef sashimi (raw beef slices). It was lightly seared on the outside while remaining raw inside. It was interesting, but I probably wouldn’t order it again. On a positive note, there was a good selection of appetizers. The calamari and raw squid rings were enjoyable, and the beef and chicken skewers were also flavorful. The restaurant features a self-serve dessert bar with custard shooters, mini cakes, chocolate pudding, and ice cream, though I didn’t sample any of these. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and quick, and the restaurant, including the tables, chairs, and washrooms, was clean. However, I wouldn’t recommend this location, as it pales in comparison to the authentic experience and food at Jukai. For nearly $95 with tax and tip for two adults without any beverages or alcohol, I don’t believe Mizu offers good value. I won’t be returning.
One of the top Japanese sushi restaurants in HRM. I highly recommend it!
WARNING THEY ARE RACIST TO BLACK PEOPLE!!! Bayers lake location- I have experienced two separate instances. They will rush you out of there and keep harassing you when it’s time to pay to make sure you pay because they fear you won’t due to your skin colour. Black people seriously watch out for this they only did it to our table and I feel like they don’t understand how hurtful and wrong that is— if no stars was an option I would’ve hit that! Not impressed, horrible experience!
A great place to visit with friends or family! The dishes are of high quality and there is a wonderful variety to choose from.
