I recently had my first experience at Lion and Bright last weekend and was very impressed. The restaurant has a large and spacious interior with high ceilings.
This restaurant is located in a trendy spot across from the NSLC on Agricola Street. Despite its prime location, it seems to be overlooked by many.
Have been to Lion and Bright several times for brunch, usually a great experience. Today we stopped by for lunch, the restaurant was quite busy however we ordered relatively simple things : side Caesar, add chicken. And their daily wrap and side Caesar. After waiting for 15 minutes the server informed us it was quite backed up in the kitchen. As we went for lunch we only had a half hour break but had already been there for 30 minutes so decided to wait it out. Another 30 minutes later our food arrived, the Caesar salad was mediocre at best. It was $7 and incredibly small, the "add chicken" was laughable - perhaps 3 small slices of rotisserie chicken, not even fresh chicken breast. This was $5 to add! Spending $12 on a salad in which you are still starving after is not ideal. The server acknowledged the slow wait and apologized for the inconvenience, however when the bills arrived nothing was done to compensate for waiting over an hour for side salads and a wrap. Not impressed, will not be returning.
We ate here on a Tuesday evening (note, they are closed Monday evenings) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The layout of the place is initially slightly off-putting - a mix between cyber-cafe and school canteen, but there are individual tables for dining and we were welcomed warmly. We had a vegetarian option from the specials board and the charcuterie board - both were very good. Washed down with an interesting selection of local beer. Service was very friendly and made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening out.
