Heartwood Restaurant - Halifax

Patio lunch of bowl with local produce on brown rice with spicy peanut sauce. Can't go wrong. So many great vegetarian options and sauces!

Lots of vegan options but our choices were less than ideal due to too much sauce, limp greens. On the plus side our waiter noticed we were less than enthused and offered some free vegan cookies which were the best part of the meal...

Was going to go to another place for clinch but it was closed. Stumbled upon this place and happy we did. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan choices abound. I ordered the bean burrito which was absolutely delicious. Seasoned perfectly, crispy tortilla, tasty rice. The Heartwood bowl with tomato sauce dressing and rice vermicelli was flavourful and satisfying. The strawberry rhubarb bar was a great way to end the meal. Prices and quality were excellent. So happy that other place was closed.

Huge potions for prices. Vegan and gluten free friendly. Never thought we'd like vegetables on Poutine, but it was delicious. Close to home cooking. Warm atmosphere.

Having frequented another vegan-type restaurant in Halifax, it was suggested we try Heartwood. Checked out the menu online and decided to drop in for lunch. So glad we did! My wife has gluten sensitivities and an allergy to milk, while I can eat anything. We each had open faced sandwiches, shared a dessert, and walked away stuffed! The homemade kamut focaccia was a terrific base for both of the flavorful offerings. The peanut butter cheesecake is GF/V and still quite yummy. Check out our photos.
