Fung Wah Restaurant - Halifax

We and another couple were in the restaurant on Sunday February 5, 2023. My wife and I shared the Lemon Chicken with steamed rice and our friends had #12 on the menu that is their favorite, as they have dined there a few times before. We asked our waitress if we could heat up our plates so that our food stays warm and she liked to. Besides the spring rolls that had too much cabbage, we enjoyed all our meals and would go back at any time.

Last night was the first order of Fung Wah. Extremely bad experience. First, the food was basically tasteless. The chicken-fried rice had no taste, even after adding soy sauce. The chicken balls were dirty, the spring roll was mostly cabbage and nothing else, and the pork substitute ribs had little taste. It was so tasteless that I only eat about 3 mouthful rice, 2 chicken balls, half a spring roll and 3 ribs. My husband has eaten more than me, just because he was hungry. From there the night went to the hill. At 11:00 we were both sick of food poisoning. nausea, cold sweats, headaches, and my husband threw himself up (probably because he ate more than me). It took until morning before I felt better, but my husband is not 100% yet. Not from here.

We ordered and were impressed by Fung Wah on some occasions. Until the last time. The rice was a tad burned and the General Tao Chicken was beef. If you are used to large Chinese take-out of Fung Wah and it is average it is disappointing. Maybe it was a free day, but they said it wasn't busy that day. Oh, good. We give them another attempt to see if there was actually a free day.

Fung Wah is a small restaurant with great taste. Excellent Chinese food. I was here on numerous occasions and was never disappointed. Since Robie food closed his was hard to find large Chinese food in Halifax until I was introduced in Fung Wah. Very recommended

I am a little late on posting, but this is my go to Chinese place in Fairview. Huge portions for an affordable price... I personally love the meat eggrolls but they aren't everyones cup of tea. Order In, take out, doesn't matter. Quick, affordable Chinese food and great quality.
