Jey's - Hakodate

A small plaque reading bar Jey’s is on the wall, which looks like a more closed loading. beautiful hostess who made me happy to make a cocktail that was not on the menu and was happy to support people with his whisky choices. our only complain is that we wish we had more time to stay there are two employees and a conversation a little English, but made the effort to use a translation app on their phone to try and communicate. 2 cocktails and 3 drams whiskey incl. decking fee were ¥6,000 when we left, we got a bottle of water and a box of biscuits as a gift to congratulate us on our honeymoon.

The atmosphere is unexpected – they would never expect it from the grace of the dipping and the necessary lucky pier red (it is hakodate, finally.) after opening the door, they climb a short row of stairs that leads them to a well-designed bar. Delightful bottles are well lit behind the bar, show a beautiful selection of scotch and cocktail mixers from all over the world. after setting a table fee (which is usually accepted in japan) with ¥800 for both of them, they show a long list of cocktails and liqueurs available (in English and catakana.) if they want whisky as I did, there is no list, but the bartender will help them decide. I had something from a small bottle I never tried. my date had a sidecar that was lovingly made. incredible. the table fee was worth every yennie, in contrast to most bars in tokio. a cup full of nuts for both, a saucer of chocolate (because it is close to halloween, of course) and endless water in a cocktail glass with homemade ice cream. and to finish it, they give you a bottle of water from Scotland to go home with you. can not ask for more of their neighbours cash.

As others mentioned, the outside of this bar is not described standalone buildings. it's from daimon. after opening the door you will find immediately a row of stairs in the ground floor to a welcoming and cozy cocktail bar. the bartenders are excellent and my gimlet was delicious. they also sell cigars when I saw that a neighbor's client was a thorough explanation of the zigarre he smoked from the male bartender. this is a great place to come solo or if they are looking for something more relaxed.

I’m an avid Japanese whisky fan. Been to many great whisky bars. Rating this bar number 1 of all the bars I’ve ever been to. Thank you Jey for giving me the privilege to taste old and rare whiskys. Any fan of Japanese whisky should make their way to this bar.

Very cool cocktail and whiskey bar. If you like whiskey and want to try out some hard to get bottles, this is the place for you. There is a charge but the prices are reasonable. Even a typhoon liked it so much that it took the sign with it as omiyage...
