The Artisan - Gulfport

The food selection was impressive and the dishes were delightful. The sushi was exceptional; we particularly loved the flavors. I had anticipated a somewhat more formal atmosphere. We were unaware that the main dining room was closed during this time of year, which was a bit disappointing. Additionally, my martini was served in a standard glass instead of a martini glass, and I would have opted not to order it had I known. On the positive side, the service was excellent and our waiter was very attentive. We appreciated the concept of being able to choose from a variety of options beyond the standard restaurant menu.

The host was very warm and friendly; I didn't catch her name, but she mentioned that she had previously worked at another location in St. Pete. After we were seated, there was some confusion about who our server was, but they eventually sorted it out. The sushi rolls were good, but didn't quite live up to my expectations based on previous visits. Although we weren't in a hurry, it seemed like it took a bit too long for our food to arrive after we ordered—around 10 minutes for a simple dish. The server also had some trouble keeping track of the small containers for our soy sauce, but eventually brought out a few different dishes. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and perhaps it's just the slow season, which can cause things to run a bit less smoothly than usual.

After reading all the positive reviews I was excited to try this place...boy was it disappointing. I checked the menus on the website in advance found a number or dishes that looked great. Unfortunately after we had been seated ordered drinks we found out upon inquiring because no one volunteered this that they were on a summer menu nearly everything on the Whiskey Grill menu was unavailable. I ordered the sauteed redfish found it to be both overcooked tasteless. The service was not friendly the noise level was horrendous almost impossible to have a conversation. Do not anticipate returning.
