One couple seated outside. It was Friday night 7:15. Amarone presents the illusion of an upscale dining experience. My expectations were too high and I was fooled. I ordered a shrimp pasta dish and my husband a spicy red sauced sausage pasta both off the daily specials menu. The shrimp was overcooked to the point that it was difficult to cut and impossible to chew. I immediately sent it back and gave the chef another chance while my husband slowly ate his meal which was just okay. The second attempt was cooked properly but lacked garlic. No concession was offered for the inconvenience of it all especially eating alone as I encouraged my husband to eat his while it was warm. Ordering off the 'today 's specials ' menu implies a fresh well prepared meal at an upscale restaurant. Sadly Not so at Amarones.
My wife and I had a pleasant dinner after taking a nice walk around Guilford. We enjoyed our meals, the service was just right and the music was old style Italian American. We got there a little early, about 5:45, on a week night so it wasn't very busy.
We've not had a perfect dining experience in a long, long time! We began with salads, then gnocchi dishes and finally dessert. Everything was perfect. Service was paced perfectly. Our salads were large and tossed lightly in house dressing. The house-made gnocchi was delicate with wonderful tasting red sauce (dish 1) and pesto creme sauce (dish 2). Portions were just right. Dessert consisted of chocolate layer cake (dense and rich) and pistachio cake (light and airy). The atmosphere and decor was comfortable and much nicer than the exterior signaled. I could add more adjectives to this review but why try when the precise description is simply; perfect.

The man with two names was arrest for first degree child pornography. He is the husband of the owner, correct? Absolutely sickening. Never again will I spend my money there.
