The Withies Inn - Guildford

I love this place for its quirky style, but it’s been a while since I last visited. Everything was still excellent, the food is terrific and the service superb. I would only say that the menu used to be a bit more interesting (some game options for example), so with the high cost of these meals it makes it less appealing. Other than that it was lovely and I’d recommend anyone to go and eat there.

I have visited The Withies over a number of years and Friday's visit was such a disappointment that my guest asked if it had changed hands. The waiting staff appeared inexperienced and disorganised not knowing what to do. A tiny quantity of bread was provided it took a long time to take our order and the beef stroganoff was disappointing in its quantity and quality. For £27.00 I was expecting much better.

I have been visiting the Withies for close to 50 years. The setting is always wonderful and the alcoves a special place to sit. But the food is resting on past glories. I go for the traditional old fashioned menu but the quality of the food is no longer good enough. Please raise your standards as I’d hate to cross the Withies off my list of favourite places to go.
