The food was to the standard, every meal was delicious to taste. The warm welcoming by the staff members elevated the whole dining experience. Especially to mention the amazing waitress named Emily, she really made the experience feel like coming home. Her bright smile and professionalism was so enlightening. Definitely coming back.
We arrived at 19.30. We waited 20 minutes waiting for someone to come to take our order. My colleague asked for an allergens list, so the waitress said the manager would have to take the order. The manager came after 5 minutes. He said there is not an allergens list, so would have to check according to what meal my colleague ordered. It turned out it needed one component of the meal checking for lactose, so he went to check. He disappeared for 20 minutes. I went to the bar and said that the manager had gone to check for an allergen 20 minutes ago. The lady went to find him and he returned to our table after another 5 minutes, apologising that he'd also had two people who had very severe allergies, who he also had to check for. What a poor excuse! Then he took our order. We were still waiting for our food 40 minutes later, during which time, two meals bound for other tables were mistakenly brought to ours. We went to the bar at 21.00 and complained and left, having not eaten.
Used to eat here many years ago. Wonderful staff, superb food. Carvery Sunday lunch (shows how long ago) salad bowls, fantastic desserts. Used to eat weekdays in the restaurant too, faultless. Then it was changed to eating in the bar, amazing food, cheerful, courteous staff. The girls on our arrival so friendly and welcoming. SO what could go wrong. Obviously quite a lot. On our way home decided to try the restaurant again Just the two of us. Practically empty. Should have left, a cold and awful atmosphere was surrounding us And not only the area we sat in. The chairs/sofas seriously need a makeover, or even replaced. It was the same furniture of years ago, but so tired. We sat down and looked at the menu, just wanting a lunch. We felt as if we should not be there, actually heard the man serving us, being asked was there anyone in the kitchen? Not surprised as after ordering it took ages for the food to arrive. We ordered drinks and two paninis mine was a roasted vegetable and cheese, someone forgot to put in the vegetables and cheese, tasteless, quite dreadful. Baguettes were used and so over cooked it was like eating cardboard. Nobody came and asked how our food was. In fact the two gentlemen seemed to disappear, when appeared one was running around with his mobile.Never acknowledged us. A man came in for a coffee and spent AGES calling for someone to serve him. He asked us was there anybody there? We asked to pay, and again the attitude was really indifferent. There was a service charge on the bill WHAT SERVICE? Subsequently we asked for it to be removed and I waited patiently for the change We had been told to go to one area to pay, but the monies were paid at the bar why? I had to wait for the gentleman to walk back to the bar and then back to me with my change. ON his return he thrust it/ threw it so hard into my hand, saying THERE YOU ARE..... my hand went down with the impact. I cannot tell you how many Holiday Inn's we have stayed in, I can assure you I have never had such outrageous and and humiliating service. Never again. .
Good food and lots of options at the buffet. Friendly helpful staff. Prices were on the higher side. Overall very good.
