Rocky's Drive-in - Guelph

Let's start with the food: gets an F. Seriously? 12" hotdog? Measure again. The bun. Dry. Brittle. Probably stale. This place looks like fun from the road - but looks ain't everything folks. So disappointing. Everything is done on the cheap and the cost to you - outrageous. The outdoor furniture is filthy - watch where you sit. Other reviews comment on the grump guy - it's true. Would not recommend, and will not go back. You'll get a better hot dog at Canadian Tire.

This is a true hot dog joint. The dogs are 12" long and the buns are slightly toasted. They make their own relish which is awesome. There is no place to sit down except outside on the deck. These are the best dogs you will ever have.

Finally checked out this place after being in Guelph for over a decade... and having heard from locals for years and years - What?! You haven't been to Rocky's?!It is a hoping spot. Lots of folks come to savour it's taste delights. A typical 50s diner flare. Basics - dogs, burgers and fries... and milkshakes.Service isn't with a smile or small talk but that seems to be part of its charm with locals.Decent food. You get what you expect.Reminded me of Easterbrooks in Burlington when I was growing up.

Not impressed with Rocky's in Guelph, what looks to be a hip place to stop for a hot dog, turns out to be a bit of a letdown. Staff are absolutely notoriously grumpy, not sure if they think that is part of the look, but I can tell you from experience, it’s not attractive to be served by a surly, grumpy person. Once the food is slammed down in front of you and you better have cash only!, then you get to taste the food that cost you so much to get. That's where it gets worse, long undercooked hot dog? That's the result, a long undercooked hot dog. No need to go back to this one, one and done. If I wanted raw hot dogs and bad service I’m sure I could find it somewhere with happier staff.

If you need a cheery face and a nice smile to enjoy good food this may not be your place.But for great footlongs with really fresh and generous toppings it's worth the famous grouch behind the counterBesides, he's actually a really sweet guy. Just don't tell anyone.
