Knapp's Country Market - Guelph

This is THE best place for cinnamon buns. As a family we have traveled over 200km return trip JUST to buy Knapp's cinnamon buns. Fresh, soft and flavourful buns with option of white icing, brown sugar or cream cheese icing. Call ahead if you plan to make the trip to make sure they have your choice. They also have a great variety of other fresh baked items, a fabulous freezer section of meals, meat and desserts. Local seasonal produce and quality dry goods section. Friendly service.

The bad: Four buffet lunches with tax and tip ( no drinks included ) was $95. The ambiance/decor is on the cold side for the prices charged. Cafeteria or industrial style comes to mind Certainly not what I would call a cosy spot. The good: Once you get past the price and decor everything else is great. Staff were super friendly, very clean, great food and the setting by the pond is lovely even on a drab weather day. The store has some unique products that are fun to browse through. We definitely enjoyed our meals!It was worth the stop to check it out, but next time we are in the area we will give somewhere else a try. Somewhere with charm and atmosphere

I visited this restaurant for the buffet lunch last Sunday and we were the only customers there for about 30 minutes. Throughout our meal, the restaurant remained empty. The location was great, situated right by the lake where we could watch the swans and Canada geese. The food was average, nothing exceptional, but the bread pudding and apple crumble were enjoyable. However, I thought that the buffet was a bit expensive considering the quality of the food.

I absolutely love this place! They have a fantastic selection of gluten/wheat free products, fresh baked goods (the no-bake cheesecake and banana cream pie are amazing!). They also offer cute gifts and knickknacks. Every visit is a new and interesting experience. The scenery is beautiful and a window seat in the restaurant is unbeatable!

Here I go again. ...looking for a place to eat, being Mothers Day 2014. I was hungry so off we went. Bingo.... Mothers day brunch at Knapp's! Having no ties with ownership or other interests with Knapp's my reviews are unbiased! We entered and were greeted by the manager I assume. Friendly and happy to see another customer entering greetings were exchanged with her. Her attitude was great, as if she wanted us to have a great time, and to enjoy the food. Unlike some restaurants you are a wallet and you are only to be acknowledged when they're looking for a tip. Seated and than the feast was to being. Yes it's a buffet style restaurant, you help yourself to the food, and bring it back to your table. I start looking for anything that could be a problem. Nope service was good. The cooks place a lot of food on your plate, and still asked if you wanted anything else. The dinner was roast beef, turkey, roast pork. How could anyone complain??? Dressing, vegetables, soups, chicken and rice, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes. So much food by the end a wheel barrow will be needed to exit the building. Oh sorry yes dessert too. Apple pie, apple crisp, cherry cheese cake, date squares, and brownies. I'm bad...yes there's also a salad bar too. As you can see the food wasn't in short supply. But that doesn't make it good...right! Well personally I have issues with anyone that says the food is awful. Knapps is and has always been the best restaurant in Guelph. Home cooked meals. Nothing fancy. But your mother's cooking never tasted better. Your Christmas dinner revisited. Yes I would take friends and visitor's to Kanpp's. It's that good. I would take my Mother here for a wonderful meal. Counting 8 times or so, I've been to knapp's for a meal. Being dinner, lunch or breakfast, the meals have never been bad. Never! I personally have been to many restaurants in the Guelph area. Acton, Georgetown, Kitchener Waterloo. Knapps is up there with the best. If it's not number one.....it's two. That I'm sure. When the meal was done the Manager and I assume the owner asked if everything was satisfactory, and that we had enough food. I asked for the wheel barrow. In ending this review.... I have never saw any problems at all. With staff or with the food. I will be back again and again. Food and service are always great!
