To say I love Guanajuato is an understatement... I adore this colonial city and I have been there several times (sometimes three times in a year). But I had never been to this place and it blew my mind. The location is not quite great,...but it is not far from the Alhondiga, which is a must if you are visiting Guanajuato. When we arrived we were greeted by a lot of people working there (I am not famous but for a split second I felt as if). They gave us a table inside since it was raining but they showed us the garden (on my next visit I will definitely ask to sit there) We settled and ordered some mezcal and we let them bring whatever they recommended... and we loved all of it. There were some fish chalupas that tasted awesome, the salad was amazing and the main dish was pork... one of the tastiest I’ve ever enjoyed... the food was so good that I had to try the desserts... and they were super too. NOTICE this is a gourmet restaurant and therefore is expensive (not too much if you visit from other country) but for the standard in Guanajuato is way too expensive. I have eaten full meals when I visit for $250 pesos, in “El jardín de los milagros” I paid five or six times more but I don’t regret any cent. Visit them and I promise you will not regret it... piece of advice... since it is gourmet food don’t add anything (salt, lime or salsa) unless they tell you to do so... the dishes are perfectly balanced in flavors. Looking forward to visit again soon!!!
They were going with foreign events! Despite the food is good, but they are not honest people (the woman and cook owners of the restaurants) unreliable for events!
We sat outside in a spacious, covered garden, and the food was excellent. Don't be fooled that the entrance looks like you are walking up a driveway. Once you're through the walls into the garden, it is quite, green and lovely. The service was friendly...and helpful. We skipped the Menu del Dia, which is for families or small groups, and each had appetizers and entrees. The food is very contemporary Mexican, long on meat dishes, but plenty of other options, including salads and fish. Two of us had the unusual (and delicious) Escamoles served on bone marrow in the bone, followed by slow cooked lamb in a green mole. On the pricier side for Guanajuato, but still very reasonable. Highly recommended.
