Coles 735 Main - gton-Fayette

Excellent food and atmosphere! I'm a strict vegetarian and had no problem finding delicious options on the menu. The watermelon gazpacho special was so refreshing on a hot summer night. My husband raved about his steak and grits. We can't wait to go back!

The only comment I would say is the restaurant temp was very uncomfortable. It was hot outside (we sat in) and it t seemed the air was very still. But our meal was delish and our waitress was wonderful! She wore a personal fan around her neck. I was envious of that fan.

We started at the bar. Small and cozy so we were happy to find 2 seats available. The bartendars were friendly and the house cocktail excellent. Not overall sweet with fresh herbs used. The food was delicious I had the Mahi Mahi special. Cooked perfectly with a sauce that was well balance with the sweetness of the tropical fruit and a little spice. The waiter picked a nice wine for the pairing. Only miss for the evening was the server disappeared close at the end of our meal. Another waiter noticed and come over when I made a small gester. He was very polite and the person I assumed finished the service and covered the dessert. How they recovered was excellent when noticed. You could see the staff watching the floor to ensure the guests were looked after and were friendly. I continue to recommend Coles 735 Main to friends and guest to Lexington. Please book ahead as it is always busy.

Wanted to like it, but didn't. We have been trying to go for years and it is always packed. Our experience was loud. Lots of noise. Lobster bisque was lukewarm at best and diver scallops were super salty. Disappointed for an anniversary meal. I was told they offered champagne to celebrate our milestone, but waiter neither acknowledged or provided. Hostesses were great. The Husband's halibut was good. Toward the end of our meal, the sun was setting and several patrons were covering their eyes due to the glare. The person keeping our water glasses filled was exceptional. He was Johnny on the spot with refills. Timing of the meal was off and table was extremely small making it difficult to fit plates on the table. I just don't get the hype.

What an amazing establishment that produces amazing service and great delicious dishes who make Coles on Main on where they are today. Thank you Coles staff and management for a great dinner.
